Film: "Just a Kid from Washington Heights"
"Just a Kid..." details the heroic and daring Douglas A-20 bombing missions over Nazi-occupied Western Europe during WW II as recalled from the clear and demonstrative memory of 87-year-old Gustave Ebenstein. Gus's crystal clear six-decade old recollections are rarely and shockingly frank, insightful and chilling. In 1944, Gus was a 24-year-old first lieutenant who was the first Douglas A-20 pilot to log 65 combat missions from bases in England and France. Gus provides a rich collection of his own private photos which places him firmly on sites in East Anglia, France and Stateside during WW II. Athur Siegel is a New York City based filmmaker (EmArt Productions Ltd) who blends the remembrances and photo memorabilia of an aging but still vigorous war hero with the sights and sounds of visually broadcast quality historical film footages and still photos to create realism. Siegel logged hundreds of research hours at the National Archives and Records Administration to help himself and the viewer understand the character of ordinary extraordinary American citizens who defeated the most dangerous threat to civilization in all of human history.
